Fighting Cancer with Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology uses imaging techniques – real-time X-rays, ultrasound, CT, or MRI – to guide treatments right to the cancer site, focusing directly on tumors or their blood supplies.

Using Your Veins

Treatments for vascular disease vary based on the severity and the type. Endovascular procedures are not as invasive as other procedures and are much more innovative. The following procedures are common for our Vascular and Interventional radiologists to perform.

Control your Pain

Our team of Board Certified Vascular and Interventional Radiologists are sought after for minimally-invasive pain management procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does interventional radiology (IR) work?
Most IR treatments begin with the prick of a needle. The interventional radiologist directs a thin wire, the size of a strand of spaghetti, through a blood vessel to treat the source of pain or disease. Interventional radiology treatments often come with less risk, less pain, shorter recovery times and better outcomes than traditional surgery.
What are the benefits of interventional radiology?
IR is much less invasive that traditional open surgeries. IR can lead to better outcomes, lower risk and faster healing times in many cases. For some therapies, IR has replaced traditional surgery as the preferred option.
What types of conditions does AMI treat?
IR is used for the treatment of vascular conditions, spinal conditions, gynecological conditions, fertility issues, and kidney disorders, among others. IR treatments are very precise, treating health problems at the source for conditions like:
• Cancer
• Vascular disease
• Infertility
• Kidney failure
• Liver disease
• Pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS)
• Peripheral artery disease (PAD)
• Spider veins
• Spinal fractures
• Uterine fibroids
• Varicose veins
